Letter 9

        2nd October 2012

        Dear Catherine,

It is a long time since I wrote to you.  My last letter was two years ago, although I thought I had written since.  It is not that I do not think of you, as I do, every day, usually to say a prayer that you are getting on OK.  Occasionally I pray that you will decide you want to get in touch, but I know really that it is so unlikely.  You seem to have made your mind up and nobody is going to convince you to change your mind.  I certainly don’t want to disturb the balance of your life.  I imagine you are stable at present and are doing well at school.  Your school report is a credit to you.

I actually saw you a couple of weeks ago.  I had parked my car at Mary & John’s house across the road from no 35 Northwick Avenue, as I was paying a visit to Robyn at no 33.  The gages in no 35 were ripe and she doesn’t like them falling on her lawn, so I agreed to pick some of them, as I have done every year since I moved out of no 35, and in fact I did even when I lived there.  As I was walking down the road on your side just past no 29, I saw you standing outside the front door, with the door open, you were passing something in to a removals van, parked in front of the house.  Luckily you did not see me, as I walked quickly into Robyn’s to the front door with her bay window hiding you from view.  It was the first time I saw you for over three years and seven months.  You had your hair tied back in a pony tail, you were taller than I remember and looked very attractive, maybe pretty is a better word.  I suppose you would cringe if you read this now, but maybe not so much if you read it when older.  But I only had a glimpse for maybe 10 seconds.  I suppose you were busy packing up your belongings to move to wherever you are moving to.  I have no idea where you are moving to, but wherever it is, I hope you will be happy there.

I wonder how you feel about moving house.  Have you got a nice bedroom?  How is your trip to school.  Have you any friends there?  Too many questions, I think.  But it is strange writing to you when I know you are not going to read the letter.  It does help me to feel a little closer to you though!  I plan to write a letter to you every two weeks for 6 or 8 weeks, just to keep you up to date with my life & thoughts at present.  I started a blog about you a little while ago and recently uploaded a number of letters I had written too you mostly in 2009 that gave me the idea to write to you again, maybe to be uploaded next year or something.  I have so many things to tell you, how I have been since we parted, how my job has gone and what I have done with my life.  But that is not for today, I will start to tell you bit by bit starting next letter in two weeks.

        All my love for now,
